Bonningate Cottage is a small preserve-making company, based in the Lake District, where the infamous Westmoreland Damson serves as a key ingredient in the making of their sweet jams and savoury chutneys.
Using a family recipe, Bonningate Cottage preserves have (up until very recently) only been available to buy at food and craft fairs. But following their steady increase in popularity, the company decided it was time to expand and allow more people to enjoy their range of preserves, with their local Stockghyll Farm Shop agreeing to stock the product.
Based on their knowledge of our experience in branding and food packaging, Bonningate were keen to get our help in the re-design of their logo and labelling for a more professional-looking product, whilst retaining a sense of old English charm and authenticity.
Our logo options were all focused on accentuating the home-grown nature of the business, a key selling point of the brand. After various options were offered, the bucolic cottage image with the company name presented in delicate hand-written font and accompanied by the rich purple shade associated with the Westmoreland Damson was approved. A simple tagline of, ‘Handmade in the Lake District’ was added to the logo to again emphasise the appealing regional and homemade qualities of the product.
Along with their signature Westmorland Damson jam, we also created labels for the other product ranges, varying the designs to represent the main ingredients of each of Bonningate’s delicious jams, chutneys and relishes.
